“Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits– who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Forget not all his benefits…
A good point! The good Lord in His wisdom knows that we are forgetful! Humans forget history’s lessons, forget the happy days when difficulties arrive, forget the beauty of this world when things don’t come their way, forget all the miracles that their Creator has already done when they are impatient to wait for their new miracle.
We forget! What we mostly forget are His benefits! We act as spoilt children, demanding ones. We want what we want and we want it now!
What is the definition of a benefit?
- Something that promotes or enhances well-being; an advantage;
- Help; aid;
- A kindly deed.
Psalm 103 describes His benefits – His aid, kindly deeds, advantages…all for our well-being:
- Forgiveness of sins
- Healing of our diseases
- Redeeming our life from the pit (I like this one!)
And not only gives us freedom from all the above, in addition (without us making any effort) He:
- CROWNS with love and compassion (imagine the picture…you with a Crown!)
- Satisfies our desires with GOOD THINGS
- We are renewed like the eagle!
Honestly, ask yourself: who ever has done similar kindly deeds for you? Obviously, humans desire to do kindly deed for others but they are limited.
God Almighty is not limited and He is willing to do all the above and all the rest (read the rest of Psalm 103!). We just need to trust Him! Amen!
Love,
Dimitra
