As it is convenient…

Monday again! A blessed day, a blessed week to you! Time flies, isn’t it? Today, it is Bank Holiday for Northern Ireland…I never understood its meaning, as often, banks are open! It probably replaces the terminology of…public holiday! No big change for the Ministry as the effort is to be alerted all times for God’s glory!

It is written in Acts 14v15-17

“Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. In the past, he let all nations go their own way. Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving
you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”

You must have noticed that when something goes wrong, people just question God. Believers or not, wonder …”where is God?”, “Why He allows this war and misery to take place?”, “Why me?” and so on and so on…

It is interesting to cease for a moment and think: What the Word of God says? Does it say that He will never forsake us? Does it say that He might put us to test but not beyond of what we can take? Does it say that He becomes angry but not for long?

I see again and again that we have created a God to our convenient… We have shaped Him as we would like Him to be, basically to serve us for the rest of our lives (of course …the rest of our life never comes, as we consider ourselves immortals! – smiles) and also we have given Him a “Facade” according to the worldly beliefs about how gods should be, in order to attract more within the Faith or Church!

Honestly, I have heard so many – I am talking about believers as the non ones do not know anyway – people complaining about what God does not do or allows to. I rarely hear something nice about what He does. About His kindness, about the rain, about the food, about His care, His protection and any good in our life. We take them on granted or we consider that it is His obligation to do so! He has non obligation toward us!

We need to decide in which side we are: are we with who the Lord really is or with what it is convenient to us?

Amen!

Love,

Dimitra
