“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,”
Who said that music is evil? The Bible is full of music and full of dancing. I miss the African churches (but I go back soon!!!!!!!) where we could come out in the corridors or where we were standing and dance to the Lord with all our heart!
Yes, I know that Satan was the most beautiful and responsible for music. There is nowhere said, however, that when he went astray…music went astray too! In fact, the opposite happened, happens and will continue happening!
“Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.”
“Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.”
In addition, Christians use to criticise modern music, especially rock music. But don’t be in hurry to scrutinize. Get informed first! We grew up with Blues music, later on with Jazz, Rock followed. Who was singing the Blues? Blues are absolutely based on gospel music, Jazz on Blues and Rock on all previous ones. But I do not intend to make some Music History Seminar.
I listen to the choirs and bands in our churches. I have visited plenty of churches, churches of various denominations. Be attentive! Listen! How many songs, christian songs, are clearly rock music? Plenty! How many are hip hop, rap and so on? Including kind of heavy metal!
So, what’s wrong with music? The Lord loves music and asks us to sing and dance in His presence. Do you know why? Because He reads the heart and our act of praising Him. It is not the music that is evil but the words, the thoughts, the disrepect and the heart!
Christians curse rock music but there are amazing songs with amazing lyrics that benefit a soul and a human.
Why they are not fair? why do they put all music in a bucket and under one label? Why they oppress their people against one of the pleasures that we can give to ourselves and to the Lord?
Let’s sing and dance to the Lord with all our heart!
