Often, even what it seems humility is still created out of pride…if you understand what I mean!
Pride takes a lot of self-awareness in order to be honest with own self, to recognize when and where we are proud, make an effort to change it.
It is on pride that our reputation stands, it is in pride that our legend is created.
It is pride – at times – to boast that we believe in the Lord. Pride has to do with us, it is self-centred when humility is letting go.
Even our own calling becomes pride, losing its texture and true meaning.
1Peter 5v5(b) – 7
“Yes, all of [you] be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
It takes true self-awareness to separate pride in our life from what we might call “righteousness”, success, achievement or accomplishment. It takes honesty to acknowledge the truth and admit it, much more to confess it.
It is not only casting all our care with the meaning of troubles, concerns and fears, difficulties, tragedies but it is to cast upon Him any thought, word and act that keeps us away from being truly humble in any thought, word and act.
