Where is the balance?

I pray that our Father in Heavens continues blessing you wherever you are and whatever you are involved with. I pray that you put your priorities right. First things first. I pray that you are guided by the Holy Spirit how to practice the important priorities in your life and all I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen!

Do you remember the story of Martha and Mary (the sisters of Lazarus, yes, the one who was raised from the dead!)? When the Lord visited their house Mary just sat on His feet and listen to Him when Martha got busy in the kitchen in order to cook the best for the special visitors. Martha’s attitude was the main problem she entered in, than anything else.

“She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

-Luke 10v40b-42

I understand as I read and meditate on this event that both Martha and Mary were involved in something important. At first, the issue with Martha was not the fact that she was cooking than being with the Lord; it was her attitude of not to finish her job and be content with what she could offer but to go and complain about Mary.

In life there are important things connected with body, soul and spirit – the three elements of our nature. We can be jailed, however, within our busyness and forget what it is the most important. As we need to feed our bodies and do our daily things, we need to feed our spirit before anything else.

Where is the balance among all things which we have to do? When we start our day with the Lord as our first priority and lay all concerns and plans on His feet, then we can go on with our other business. We will be successful. When we need to do something within the day or take a decision, let’s give it first to the Lord, listen His guidance and go on and do it.

We need to remember that the balance relies not on what it is urgent but on what it is important. The Lord should be the number one in our life and within our day! Amen!

Love,

Dimitra

One Response to Where is the balance?

  1. As someone once said, “Your lack of planning doesn’t constitute an emergency on my part!” To BALANCE oneself on the ‘teeter-totter’ of life without Holy Spirit, will in most cases find yourself falling in the ‘dirt’ of life. Just thinking out loud while appreciating your words this morning. 🙂
