Few Important things…

FEW IMPORTANT THINGSIt is weeks that I read 1 Corinthians chapters 1,2,3 and 4. I read those chapters again and again, time and again, over and over again. I absorb so much from what I read and I try to put it on this blank page but somehow I cannot. It is too many thoughts, important things which are mentioned in those four chapters and indicate the condition of the early church, a state that has not much change during the past centuries!

We still struggle with similar issues, a struggle that continues and it mostly creates divisions than growth and union.

I will use few scriptures, otherwise it is difficult to say what I truly intend to. Let’s look at the form in which we live as believers. Let’s observe some of our characteristics, privileges and elements.

1Corinthians 1v5

“…that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge.”

Wow! That’s who we are: enriched in everything (not some!) in words and knowledge! We can speak for Him and about Him, we do not need to prepare anything (as elsewhere mentions as well), we have the Holy Spirit to guide us. We have been enriched in all needed!

1Corinthians 2v4

“And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.”

I believe that the above-mentioned scripture explains even better the previous one! We stand and speak not through our worldly wisdom but it is the Holy Spirit who puts the thoughts and the words. Of course, I believe, we need to allow the Spirit to do so and not to create obstacles through our acts, thoughts or superstitions.

There are people who in the name of the Lord manipulate the verses such the above as they claim and declare that they “heard” from God but in reality, they heard from their own wisdom and for their own gratification. In such cases, we need to be very aware of what the Spirit speaks to us and as the Bible says to check everything we hear from others. That’s where the following scriptures apply:

1Corinthians 4v6(b)

“…you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written.”

We like to use the Word of God and explain it in simple terms and in a way that everyone can understand it and be related. However, we still go out of the barriers in a way that we change what is written and its true meaning. Especially, preachers and teachers, we need the continuous help of the Holy Spirit due to not cross those lines, to simplify without giving a wrong interpretation or meaning, plus not to puffed up on behalf of one against the other!

Few more thoughts and important things to keep in mind and in practice:

1Corinthians 4v7

“For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?”

Good point, eh? No comment from my side!!! Just read it again and again…but the most amazing declaration follows:

1Corinthians 4v8

“You are already full! You are already rich! You have reigned as kings without us – and indeed I could wish you did reign, that we also might reign with you!”

We are already full! And I say, we are already full with the Holy Spirit who does the whole work! We are already rich! We are rich in His Word, we are rich in His Spirit, we are rich in each word that comes out of our mouth and each act we perform for His Kingdom!

Amen!
